The police have finally found the man involved in a DUI crash that killed a mother and 4 children in October 2017. Favian Garcia, the convict, from Gervais had to stand on trial, but there was a last-minute change in the schedule. He decided to sign a motion that agreed to the list of facts that the prosecutors summarized.
Judge Sean Armstrong was in charge of this case. He reviewed the allegations and declared Favian Garcia guilty of five charges: drinking and driving, reckless driving, first-degree manslaughter, and criminal driving with a suspended license.
The unfortunate victims, Lizette Merano-Perez of Molalla, 25 years of age, was heading with her car to the corner on the north of Salem highway when the convict crashed head-on to her car. The crash also killed four of her children: 2-year-old Angelina Vazquez-Crisp, 4-year-old Dayanara Medrano-Perez, 6-year-old Andrus Medrano-Contreras, and 8-year-old Ricardo Medrano-Contreras.
The witnesses of this deadly crash rushed the mother and the children to the hospital as soon as possible where they were declared dead. According to the court’s records of Favian Garcia, he had a BAC level four times than the legal limit. The reports also show that Favian Garcia was not the owner of the Land Rover he was driving that day. The police suspended his license immediately after the crash.
There are reports that Favian Garcia told one of the witnesses of the crime scene that he was returning from a nearby bar at that time. He also said that he had a couple of drinks in that bar before driving out. However, when questioned by the state troopers, the convict denied such claims and insisted that he had a bad hangover that led to the accident.
Favian Garcia will be sentenced on the 2nd of December.
