An elderly woman is dead following a car accident in Umatilla County on December 8.

Oregon State Police said the crash took place at the intersection of Hwy 395 and East Punkin Center Road just after 10 p.m.

They said forty-five-year-old Michelle Dawn Fry was going northbound on the highway when she ignored a red stoplight.

Her car reportedly crashed into a black KIA Spectra in which Elidio Salas De La Paz ,77, and his spouse Alicia Salas,75, were traveling.

Police said Salas De La Paz was heading south on the highway and turning left onto Punkin Center Road at the time.

In a press release, police said medics transported the couple to Hermiston’s Good Shepherd Medical Center where doctors pronounced Salas dead.

Meanwhile, Fry is in Umatilla County Jail having been charged with second-degree manslaughter, third-degree felony aggravated assault, DUII-alcohol, second-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and property hit and run. She was held on $290,000 bail.

The Oregon Department of Transportation, Umatilla County Fire District #1, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hermiston Police Department all assisted with the investigation.

Friday’s accident came just two days after another fatal two-car crash in Umatilla County.

State police reported that a crash happened around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday on Highway 730 near milepost 202.

Preliminary information indicated that a Ford F-150 pickup was traveling west when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a semi-truck carrying a flatbed trailer.

Police said the pickup’s driver suffered fatal injuries.

Emergency personnel took the driver of the semi-truck to Good Shepherd Medical Center.

Highway 730 was closed for approximately four hours.

I've known Aaron for several years, and while I've never needed an attorney for my own legal needs, he'd the the first one I'd contact if the situation ever arose. As a member on an interview panel for an attorney position years ago, I was thoroughly impressed with not only his professional background, but his sharp mind for legal matters, as well as his strong work ethic. I think a person will be very well represented if they hire Aaron Tribble for their legal needs.
