Twenty-three-year-old Lisa Sam is facing numerous charges after officials say she caused a serious crash in the area of Scappoose on Wednesday morning.
Video from another vehicle’s dashcam reportedly shows her crossing the center lane of Highway 30 in a gray Kia and crashing into an oncoming car.
The crash took place just before 8:30 a.m. near Rocky Point Road and resulted in the closure of the highway for some time.
Sam was arrested following the crash and charged with a number of offenses including driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. She is also accused of reckless endangering, assault, driving without an operator’s license, and failure to drive within lane.
In addition, police say one of her passengers, 24-year-old Nicolas Aguilar, was arrested on a probation detainer.
A third passenger who was not identified was taken to the hospital. No information was released about their condition.
Meanwhile, the unnamed driver of the SUV that Sam struck was flown to a hospital for treatment after the crash. Details about their condition are also under wraps.
Motorist Alec Herold who captured video of the accident on his dashcam said he barely had time to avoid getting hit.
Herold said he didn’t see the crash since it happened behind him, but he heard a loud explosion.
He added that he uses Highway 30 every day and he doesn’t see it as a dangerous road. He said some of the crashes that occur there are due to driver actions.
If you have been accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants – whether drugs or alcohol – you need to hire a Portland DUI attorney. DUII penalties can be harsh even for first-time offenders and the effects of a conviction can be long-lasting.
